Pifini's reviews are written by our members. The underlying place listings and maps are seeded and enriched from open geospatial datasets. We credit every source below and comply with each license. Reviews, ratings, and editorial content on Pifini are Pifini's own and are not part of these datasets.
Overture Maps Foundation
Baseline place listings (names, categories, locations, and where available contact details) are seeded from the Overture Maps Foundation Places theme, used under the Community Data License Agreement – Permissive, Version 2.0 (CDLA-Permissive-2.0). Overture itself aggregates several open sources. Each Overture record carries a stable GERS identifier, which Pifini retains.
Foursquare OS Places
Where we incorporate the Foursquare Open Source Places dataset to enrich a listing, it is used under the Apache License, Version 2.0, with attribution to Foursquare Labs, Inc. preserved as the dataset's NOTICE requires.
OpenStreetMap
Our maps are rendered from © OpenStreetMap contributors, and some place details in the Caribbean are supplemented from OpenStreetMap. That OpenStreetMap-derived data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL). We keep it in a separate store and do not merge it into our reviews database, so the ODbL's share-alike terms do not extend to Pifini's reviews or ratings.
How added places work
When a member adds a place from our “known places” suggestions, they are publishing an existing open-data record to Pifini. When they add a genuinely new place, that entry is original to Pifini and our contributors — it is verified by our team before it goes live.
Corrections
If a listing is wrong, outdated, or should not appear, tell us at hello@pifini.netand we'll correct or remove it. For upstream data, corrections also flow back fastest by editing the source (Overture, Foursquare's Placemaker, or OpenStreetMap) directly.
