Sugar Mas is the national carnival of St. Kitts & Nevis, celebrated during the Christmas and New Year season. The name references the island's sugar cane heritage, and the festival brings together the best of Caribbean carnival culture — J'Ouvert (the early-morning paint-and-mud parade), masquerade bands, calypso and soca competitions, and the grand Carnival parade on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
