St. George's Caye Day 2026

St. George's Caye Day is a Belizean national holiday commemorating the 1798 Battle of St. George's Caye, in which vastly outnumbered Baymen defeated a Spanish invasion fleet, a victory credited with making Belize the only English-speaking nation in Central America. Celebrations include street parades with floats decorated in national symbols, music, dance and fireworks, centered especially in Belize City and San Ignacio.
