Semana Criolla del Prado 2027

The Semana Criolla (Creole Week) at the Prado park in Montevideo is Uruguay's premier celebration of gaucho culture, held during Holy Week. For one week, champion jinetes (horse trainers) demonstrate domadura (horse breaking), rienda (rein work), and other traditional gaucho skills before packed grandstands. Folk music performances of chamarrita, milonga, and payada fill the evenings, alongside artisan stalls, asado competitions, and the exhibition of the finest criollo horses in Uruguay.
