The Señor de los Milagros (Lord of Miracles) procession in Lima is the world's most-attended Catholic procession, drawing between 1 and 2 million participants every October. For three days (October 18-19 and 28), thousands of purple-clad devotees called cuadrilleros carry the heavy, ornate anda (portable altar) bearing the image of the Lord of Miracles through Lima's streets. The procession passes through the city's historic centre, and the entire month of October is Peru's national month of the Lord of Miracles.
