Rio's New Year's Eve celebration on Copacabana Beach is one of the largest public gatherings on the planet, combining a long fireworks display fired from barges along the coastline with live music performances and, in recent years, coordinated drone shows. The event traditionally draws well over a million people to the beachfront.
