Ponce Carnival

One of the oldest carnivals in the Western Hemisphere, the Ponce Carnival fills the southern city's Plaza Las Delicias with the vejigantes, costumed characters in brightly colored, horned papier-mâché masks. The pre-Lenten celebration includes parades, live music, and the iconic 'diablo cojuelo' character clinking and flashing with bells and mirrors as it dances through the streets.
