Phagwah (Holi)

Phagwah is the Guyanese name for Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, celebrated for nearly two centuries in Guyana. Celebrations begin the evening before with the Holika Dahan bonfire and continue the next day as people of all backgrounds throw colored powder and water in a national celebration that has grown well beyond its Hindu religious roots.
