Owru Yari

Owru Yari ('Old Year') is Suriname's boisterous New Year's Eve street celebration, exploding through central Paramaribo around Domineestraat and the downtown shopping streets. Brass bands and Caribbean soca mix with Surinamese kaseko music and strings of Chinese firecrackers, running from late morning into the evening before continuing into club nights across the capital.
