Junkanoo Nassau 2026

Junkanoo is the Bahamas' most iconic cultural tradition — a dazzling parade of music, dance, and extraordinary hand-crafted costumes staged in the early hours of December 26 (Boxing Day) and January 1. Groups spend all year preparing their elaborate costumes. The Nassau Bay Street parade route fills with the thunderous sound of goatskin drums, brass horns, cowbells, and whistles in a competition between legendary shack-shack groups including Valley Boys, Saxons, and Roots. Junkanoo is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage practice.
