Inti Raymi (Quechua: Festival of the Sun) is the most important festival of the Inca Empire, honouring Inti (the Sun God). On June 24 each year, the city of Cusco hosts the world's largest theatrical re-enactment of an Inca ceremony. The spectacle moves through three locations — Qorikancha temple, the Plaza de Armas, and the fortress of Sacsayhuamán — with 500 actors in Inca royal costume, llamas, and thousands of spectators. The ceremony is performed entirely in Quechua, the Inca language. Over 100,000 people attend.
