Fiestas Patronales de Santo Domingo, Managua

Managua's largest and most visible city festival honors patron saint Santo Domingo de Guzmán over ten days each August. Two major processions bookend the festival: the Bajada on August 1, when the saint's statue is carried into central Managua, and the Subida on August 10, when it is returned, both accompanied by dancers, marching bands, and fireworks, with daily street parties in between.
