This three-week UNESCO-recognized celebration honors San Sebastián Mártir, San Antonio Abad, and the Señor de Esquipulas through daily Parachicos dance processions in ornate wooden masks, plus Chiapaneca dance days and folk-art competitions in lacquerware, masks, and embroidery. It is considered one of Chiapas's most important cultural events and draws large numbers of national and international visitors each January. The festival is anchored by six major Parachico processions along traditional routes through town. (Date shown is estimated from the event's typical annual timing — confirm with the organizer closer to the date.)
