Fiesta de Santo Tomás, Chichicastenango

Chichicastenango's patron saint festival is one of the most world-renowned in Guatemala, running from December 13-21. Cofradías (religious brotherhoods) organize dances in which participants wear costumes representing Spanish conquistadors, accompanied by marimba music, fireworks, and processions through the town's famous market streets.
