Fiesta de la Cruz y Tinku de Macha

In the town of Macha, Potosí, this festival combines Catholic cross veneration with the pre-Columbian Tinku ritual, in which community members from different ayllus engage in ceremonial hand-to-hand combat believed to fertilize the earth with spilled blood.
