Each July the town of Itauguá, near Asunción, transforms into an open-air marketplace for its Ñandutí lace festival. Master artisans display and sell the delicate, spider-web-patterned lace that is one of Paraguay's most distinctive crafts, alongside exhibitions of ao po'i embroidery and pottery, plus traditional polka and guarania music and dance.
